The School of Histories and Humanities brings together the Departments of Classics, History, History of Art and Architecture, along with the Centre for Gender and Women's Studies. With 36 full-time faculty members, the School maintains a global research reputation across diverse fields such as archaeology, philosophy, ancient languages, historical periods from Classical to Modern, art history, and gender studies. Our postgraduate community includes 96 research students and 107 enrolled in taught programs. Faculty emphasize research-driven education, value student input, and encourage cross-disciplinary collaboration.
The School frequently organizes international conferences and operates six prominent research seminars, creating platforms for global scholars and graduate students to share findings and perspectives. Additionally, the School contributes significantly to Ireland's premier research institutions, hosting eight specialized centers: the Trinity Irish Art Research Centre, Trinity Medieval History Research Centre, Trinity Centre for Early Modern History, Trinity Centre for Contemporary Irish History, Trinity Centre for Irish, Scottish and Comparative Studies, Trinity Centre for War Studies, Trinity Centre for Gender and Women's Studies, and Trinity Centre for Mediterranean and Near Eastern Studies.
Postgraduate work in Trinity College Dublin is very academically challenging and as a result the University has high academic entry requirements. Applicants will need to hold at least a 2.1 honors degree from an Irish university or equivalent result from a university in another country; a fluent command of the English language. Display a high level of competence in the English language in one of the examination systems recognised by Trinity College Dublin.
