Theatrical drama unfolds both onstage and in daily life. Performance art permeates our everyday experiences, serving as the foundation for narrative traditions and various artistic expressions. Rooted in ancient ceremonial practices, it continues to play a vital role in helping us interpret our world and find our place within it. Like other creative disciplines, Drama offers valuable perspectives that extend to healthcare, governance, learning environments, and beyond.
Theatre Studies explores every artistic element that creates live performances - from costumes and lighting to soundscapes, collaborative creation, stage direction, set design, dramatic composition, and scriptwriting. This field also examines theatre's deeper significance, investigating cultural and political contexts, spatial dynamics, the relationship between performers and spectators, and the integration of digital innovations.
Applicants must have completed a high school qualification equivalent to the Irish Leaving Certificate. General matriculation requirements include pass grades in English, mathematics and a language other than English. Additional requirements may apply for some courses.
