This innovative Master's program stands out as the only one of its kind in Ireland and worldwide, providing students with comprehensive training in the three core areas of Gastronomy & Food Studies: History, Society, and Practice. As the food industry in Ireland and across the world faces increasing examination from diverse perspectives, this program addresses the rising demand for expertise in Food Studies.
Through a combination of collaborative learning and specialized networking events, the curriculum enhances adaptable communication abilities while fostering innovative and analytical thinkers. Graduates will emerge as continuous learners and champions of both Irish culinary traditions and global food heritage.
The program analyzes the major influences and regulations shaping today's food systems by studying how historical developments affect current food practices. It delves into the social aspects of culinary and beverage culture, food-based tourism, modern food education methods, along with food journalism, media, publishing, and eco-friendly food production. Available as a full-time one-year program (TU237) or a part-time two-year option (TU233), the full-time track meets visa requirements for international students from outside the EU.
