RCSI pioneered the Graduate Entry Medicine (GEM) program in 2006, becoming the Republic of Ireland's inaugural medical school to offer this pathway for students with diverse undergraduate degrees to pursue medicine.
During your initial GEM year, instruction takes place in specialized facilities at the St Stephen's Green campus, followed by concentrated learning at RCSI's dedicated teaching center in Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown during year two. The concluding years involve clinical rotations across multiple hospitals and general practices throughout Dublin and nationwide.
RCSI's GEM program prepares you for immediate professional practice. Clinical skills development begins on day one, incorporating weekly simulated patient interactions throughout the curriculum.
The program offers extensive career-building prospects, including undergraduate research options, international clinical electives at renowned institutions, and a culminating four-week sub-internship where you'll train as a resident in Irish, American, or Canadian hospitals.
