An architectural technologist focuses on the technical aspects of architectural design, serving as a specialist in technical design. They collaborate within teams, offering expertise in technical design fundamentals and contributing to building development. Their role includes organizing and coordinating various professionals throughout the design and construction phases.
A mandatory work placement (at least five weeks) forms a key part of the program during the third year. This placement helps students understand workplace operations and allows them to see how theoretical concepts from their studies are applied in real-world settings. Students receive guidance from both an MTU academic advisor and an on-site workplace mentor. The placement's objective is to expose students to professional environments in their field while enhancing their knowledge of organizational processes, procedures, and technologies.
