This program has received approval from CORU, Ireland's regulatory body for Health and Social Care Professionals.
Social care involves professionals supporting individuals facing marginalization, disadvantage, or special needs. Practitioners operate across diverse environments with various groups: children and teens in residential care, individuals with physical or learning disabilities, homeless populations, those dealing with substance dependencies, community families, elderly individuals, or new immigrants to Ireland. Social care professionals primarily engage in direct, person-centered support with those they serve.
Their goal is to create environments where social, educational, and relational support can be provided within service users' living spaces. The field emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, with social care workers, social workers, early childhood specialists, and others frequently working as teams. The curriculum combines classroom instruction, workshops, and two full semesters of supervised off-site practical training.
A key focus of this program is developing hands-on skills in real-world contexts while demonstrating proficiency in social care responsibilities. To ensure graduates are equipped for the profession's varied demands, fieldwork visits and placements form a fundamental component of the learning experience.
