Social Care Work focuses on building relationships to deliver intentional care, protection, psychosocial assistance, and advocacy for marginalized or disadvantaged individuals and groups with specific needs. Guided by social justice and human rights principles, Social Care Workers operate under the oversight of CORU's Registration Board.
This hands-on program includes two semesters of fieldwork placements. Social Care Workers typically assist individuals with physical or cognitive challenges, at-risk youth, abused or neglected children, families needing support, those struggling with addiction, homeless populations, and older adults across various settings like residential facilities, day programs, and community services.
The curriculum prioritizes both professional skills and personal growth necessary for this demanding sector. Graduates pursue careers with the HSE, TUSLA, government bodies, nonprofit organizations, and community initiatives.
