Popular music dominates the airwaves, playing nonstop on radio stations, television programs, theaters, clubs, and venues nationwide. This broad category includes various subgenres like rock, country, soul, blues, commercial pop, contemporary musical theater, electronic, dance, and more. The program features five specialized tracks: Electric Bass Guitar, Drums, Electric Guitar, Keyboards, or Vocal Performance.
Students are grouped with carefully selected peers to create intimate popular music ensembles, which serve as the foundation of their educational journey. Complementary skills are developed through lectures, classes, and music technology labs, all supporting the primary focus on performance training.

600 CAO Points in 2023 and meet minimum entry requirements
Leaving Certificate in six subjects i.e. H5 in two subjects and O6/H7 in four other subjects. The six subjects must include either English or Irish grade O6/H7. Mathematics see Note 1.
Offers are made based on the entrance test results to applicants who meet the academic minimum entry requirements as outlined above.
NOTE 1There is no specific requirement for Maths. A grade F2 or higher in foundation level Maths is recognised as one of the subjects for entry.
NOTE 2Vetting by an Garda Sochna is a mandatory requirement for this programme.
