The Postgraduate Diploma in French for Post-Primary Teaching is designed for educators who hold a Professional Masters of Education (PME) or similar qualification, or for those planning to undertake a PME afterward. This program offers both local and international students a curriculum specifically structured to fulfill Teaching Council criteria for accreditation as a French teacher in secondary education. Participants will engage in concentrated study of French translation, Francophone literature and culture, and language teaching methodologies. Additionally, this diploma can serve as a pathway to advanced degrees like the MLitt or PhD in French Studies.
NOTE: While this program doesn't grant professional accreditation directly, it delivers the necessary 60 ECTS credits aligned with current Teaching Council standards for French. Graduates seeking Teaching Council accreditation must possess a PME or equivalent qualification and will need to undergo individual assessment by Ireland's Teaching Council.
