The Master of Arts in European History is a full-time, one-year program that engages students in broader historical discussions about Europe while equipping them to undertake a research thesis alongside coursework. This program consists of 60 credits from taught modules and 30 credits dedicated to the thesis.

Students take a combination of core and elective courses. Required modules cover key scholarly works and major historical debates in European history from 1500 to today, including topics like genocide studies, the World Wars, and cultural developments. Electives allow students to select courses from other departmental MA programs or pursue language studies.

Thesis supervision begins in the first semester, with students focusing on research and writing in the second semester. The thesis carries 30 credits, with an optional independent reading component under faculty guidance.

The program fosters academic community through social events, seminars, and conferences. High-achieving students may have opportunities to serve as undergraduate tutors, gaining teaching experience.

Evaluation includes written work, class participation, and presentations. Students produce a substantial thesis on an approved topic, developed through independent research with faculty supervision. Coursework follows the standard weekly academic schedule.
