The MA in Business Translation and Intercultural Communication for English and Spanish speakers emerges from a partnership between Maynooth University's School of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures and the University of Deusto's Faculty of Social and Human Sciences in Bilbao, Spain. This innovative program provides diverse coursework covering Translation Studies, Intercultural Communication, Business Fundamentals, and Organizational Culture. Designed for bilingual English-Spanish graduates, it enhances their language skills for today's global business environment, with particular emphasis on professional translation applications.
Participants gain exceptional international exposure through academic mobility and practical work experience. The curriculum begins with a semester at Maynooth University focusing on Translation and Business subjects, followed by a second semester at Deusto University in Bilbao with advanced complementary courses. After completing both academic semesters, students undertake a three-month professional internship with organizations in either Ireland or Spain. The program concludes with a reflective final report and oral examination, allowing students to connect their practical experience with the program's academic framework and learning outcomes.

Applicants must have a recognised primary degree which is considered equivalent to an Irish university primary degree level.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate linguistic proficiency in both English and Spanish commensurate with CEFR level C1.1.
IELTS - 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in each band; TOEFL internet-based test iBT: 90 with no less than 21 in writing and at least 19 in all other sections; Pearson Test of English - 63 with no less than 59 for each item in the Communicative Skills section; Duolingo English Test (DET) - 120 with no less than 110 in literacy, conversation, and comprehension subscores and no less than 95 in production. (This lower production subscore applies to non-EU applicants only), Cambridge Proficiency Cert. - 176+ on Cambridge English scale with no less than 169 in each skill and use of English.
