The MSc in Science and Health Communication delves into both traditional and emerging platforms for scientific discourse while teaching optimal strategies for conveying complex information to diverse audiences. Established in 1996, DCU's science communication master's program has gained national and international recognition, with a health communication specialization introduced in 2018. Qualification Requirements

For admission to the MSc in Science and Health Communication programme, successful applicants will have:

  • A degree at the level of an Irish or UK Honours undergraduate degree (H2.2 or above) or equivalent
  • Applicants with appropriate combinations of professional qualifications and experience may also be considered. This includes discipline-specific knowledge and know-how; transferable skills; basic research competency; personal effectiveness.

English language Requirements

  • IELTS ACADEMIC - Overall score 6.5 or above and 6.5 in writing and speaking. Other sections scores 6.0 or above.
  • TOEFL - Overall score 580 or above and all sections scores 55 or above.
  • CBTOEFL - Overall score 237 or above and all section scores 21 or above.
  • TOEFL iBT - Overall score 92 or above and all section scores 21 or above.
  • English Test for Academic and Professional Purposes (ETAPP) - C1
  • Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CAP) ‚Äì Postgraduate: Overall score of 180 with a minimum of 176 in Speaking and Writing and 169 in Listening, Reading.
  • Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) - Postgraduate: Overall score of 180 with a minimum of 176 in Speaking and Writing and 169 in Listening, Reading.
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic) - 63 (with a minimum of 63 in speaking and writing and 59 in listening and reading).
  • Duolingo - Duolingo will be accepted with a minimum score of 120 and a score of at least 110 in each subscore.
