The Master of Science in Diagnostics and Precision Medicine is an innovative blended-learning program that explores how diagnostic tools and targeted therapies are transforming modern healthcare by delivering personalized treatment to patients at the optimal time. Breakthroughs in understanding both healthy and pathological biological processes have paved the way for groundbreaking therapies addressing cancer, inflammatory disorders, and genetic conditions. Additionally, scientific and technological progress has enabled novel biomedical testing methods that: (a) enhance disease detection accuracy (b) improve disease classification (c) enable more personalized treatment approaches and (d) facilitate early identification of at-risk individuals. Launched in 2018, this MSc program was Ireland's inaugural postgraduate qualification in precision medicine and among the first globally to offer structured, module-based advanced training in cutting-edge diagnostics and therapeutics for precision medicine applications.
This program is designed for: Life science professionals (including recent graduates), Industry specialists from diagnostic, biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors, and Medical practitioners (covering general practitioners and resident physicians).

Qualification Requirements

  • For admission to the MSc in Diagnostics and Precision Medicine candidates must have a primary degree that equates to an NFQ Level 8 Second-Class Honours, Grade 1 Award (H2.1) in a Life Science, Pharmaceutical, Medical or Chemical discipline.
  • In addition, candidates who hold a primary degree (NFQ Level 8), with a Second-Class Honours, Grade 2 Award (H2.2) in one of the relevant degrees and with industrial experience will be considered.

  • IELTS ACADEMIC - Overall score 6.5 or above, with a minimum of 6.0 in all components.
  • TOEFL - Overall score 580.
  • CBTOEFL - Overall score 237.
  • TOEFL iBT - Overall score 92.
  • English Test for Academic and Professional Purposes (ETAPP) - C1
  • Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CAP) - Postgraduate: Overall score of 180 with a minimum of 169 in all components.
  • Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) - Postgraduate: Overall score of 180 with a minimum of 169 in all components.
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic) - 63 with a minimum of 59 in all components.
  • Duolingo - Duolingo will be accepted with a minimum score of 120 and a score of at least 110 in each subscore.
