The new Master of Arts in Documentary Practice builds upon three decades of film and television education within our School of Communications. This program addresses rising student interest and industry needs for in-depth documentary content.
Students will benefit from state-of-the-art camera gear, a specialized post-production facility, and full access to our professional sound and TV studios. This MA stands out through its comprehensive, hands-on methodology for non-fiction storytelling, blending practical training in photography, audio, and video production with theoretical study through critical film analysis and academic readings.
The program culminates in a production-focused dissertation project. Following rigorous development, students present their work at professional-level pitches, with final projects premiering at the renowned Irish Film Institute during a public festival.
We prioritize educational excellence through small class sizes, individualized instruction, and continuous access to top-tier facilities. While previous production experience is beneficial, our curriculum is structured to rapidly develop students' skills, ensuring their final projects meet professional industry standards from day one.
