Chemists skilled in harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) are highly sought-after worldwide for developing innovative medications and eco-friendly materials. These professionals are essentially shaping our collective future as AI transforms the processes of drug and material discovery, development, and manufacturing. Throughout this program, you'll investigate AI's role in chemistry by working with extensive datasets, robust computing systems, and sophisticated learning models. While mastering AI applications in chemistry, you'll also gain insights from our engaged industry collaborators who actively participate in the curriculum. The initial two years focus on core chemistry principles, followed by instruction in programming, machine learning, and the theoretical foundations for implementing AI in chemistry. Your third year includes an INTRA professional placement, culminating in a final year dedicated to independent research within applied chemistry.
With the pharmaceutical industry's vast scope and the shortage of AI-specialized chemists, graduates will enjoy exceptional career prospects. Opportunities range from positions in major pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, or materials corporations to roles in startups and smaller enterprises requiring your specialized knowledge. To pursue Chemistry with Artificial Intelligence, applicants must first enroll in our Chemical Sciences General Entry program (DC163) and select this specialization after completing Year 1.
