The Operations Management and Information Systems (OMIS) department at Schulich School of Business provides PhD candidates with the chance to collaborate with accomplished faculty who lead research in various domains including supply chain logistics, healthcare administration, digital networks, workplace safety, environmental innovation, business decision-making, and data science.
Given the interdisciplinary character of this field, doctoral students receive comprehensive training in three analytical disciplines: statistical analysis, microeconomic principles with game theory, and mathematical optimization. These fundamental subjects create a robust framework for conducting empirical research in operations and information systems. In their second academic year, students can pursue specialized studies aligned with their research focus through courses authorized by the OMIS PhD program director.
