The Master of Arts (MA) in Geography is delivered through the collaborative Waterloo-Laurier Graduate Program in Geography, combining resources from both institutions to create Canada's third-largest graduate geography program.
Students gain access to our faculty's extensive knowledge and engage with peers in this vibrant academic community. This partnership enables exploration of diverse research areas, from critical social and environmental issues to fundamental philosophical and technical inquiries.
Students can pursue the two-year thesis track or opt for the major research paper pathway. Starting September 2021, Laurier-enrolled students may additionally select the Environmental Data Analytics (EDA) specialization.
This MA program particularly suits those focused on human geography, environmental resource management, or geomatics applications in society.
The thesis pathway involves eight credit units: four courses plus the thesis (worth four credits), typically finished within six terms (two years).
The research paper alternative consists of eight credit units: six courses plus the research project (worth two credits), generally completed in three terms (one year).
