Laurier's program is carefully crafted to highlight the crucial importance of gender in shaping our experiences, examining its connections with other social factors like socioeconomic status, racial identity, cultural background, citizenship, sexual orientation, age, physical ability, and Indigenous heritage.
Our Women and Gender Studies curriculum doesn't just equip students with analytical tools for interpreting society - we empower them to transform it. With a strong emphasis on social justice and equality, our program addresses both community-level concerns and worldwide challenges.
Numerous courses adopt an international perspective, investigating matters that transcend Canadian boundaries. Subjects like men's studies, Indigenous perspectives, and ecological concerns ensure classroom discussions remain timely and impactful.
By employing cross-disciplinary learning methods and diverse assignments including individual work, group projects, presentations, and written compositions, we cultivate innovative thought. Students frequently appreciate how the program creates space for reflecting on and understanding their personal journeys and observations.
