Earth Sciences explores our planet's systems and features. This field examines Earth's internal makeup and structure; its active nature (including seismic events, volcanic activity, and continental movement); the mechanisms operating within it; the forces that mold its exterior and the substances forming its surface; the relationships between surface phenomena, climate patterns, and ecological balance; the discovery, distribution, extraction, and preservation of natural resources (including minerals, energy sources, soils, and water); Earth's position in our solar system, and the evolution of life on our planet.
Western University's Earth Sciences Department fosters a collaborative, vibrant community that blends advanced theoretical and practical research with exceptional mentorship and education for both graduate and undergraduate students. Our alumni hold positions in private sectors, academic institutions, and government agencies throughout Canada and internationally.
