The Department of Statistical and Actuarial Sciences recognizes the significance of your personal goals and ambitions, appreciating that each one is as distinct as you are.
In the fields of statistical and actuarial sciences along with financial modeling, you'll gather, examine, and interpret data using mathematical and computational methods. We foster strong connections and collaboration between students and professors. Faculty offices, most classrooms, and one of the campus's most advanced computer labs are situated on the second floor of the Western Science Centre (also known as Paterson Building). The Actuarial & Statistical Undergraduate Association (ASUA) arranges workshops, study sessions, and networking activities.
An actuary serves as a certified professional specializing in developing and managing insurance and retirement plans, with expertise in evaluating risks. These professionals utilize mathematical and statistical approaches to solve diverse financial challenges. Under Canadian law, an actuary is officially recognized as a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.
