For those seeking a program combining studio instruction and ensemble performance, consider applying to the Bachelor of Music degree.
All first-year Bachelor of Music students take foundational courses covering Music Theory, Music History, and Music Skills (including Sight-singing, Ear-training, and Keyboard Harmony). The curriculum also includes a half-course in either music composition, teaching & learning, or popular music & culture, along with one music/non-music elective and another elective outside the Don Wright Faculty of Music. Students receive weekly one-hour private lessons, masterclasses, and ensemble participation.
Bachelor of Music (Honours) students typically choose a specialization near the end of their first year after evaluating their skills and interests. Alternatively, students may opt for a general Bachelor of Music track without declaring a specific focus.
Admission requires demonstrating piano proficiency equivalent to Royal Conservatory of Music Level 10 performance standards, along with outstanding performance ability.
Applicants must complete six approved Grade 12U/M courses, including English (ENG4U), and receive faculty approval based on an audition and interview.
