The flexible degree framework allows you to mix and match subjects across multiple departments and faculties. The following diagram illustrates possible module combinations for the three degree options: Honors Bachelor Degree, Bachelor Degree (4-year), and Bachelor Degree (3-year). For example, pursuing a 4-year Honors Bachelor Degree might involve an Honors Specialization in Biology paired with a minor from another Science discipline or even an Arts field like Philosophy. Many students opt for an Honors Bachelor degree featuring a double major - combining two Major modules, either within Science or pairing Science with a non-Science discipline. Western University offers an extensive array of potential module combinations.
The Biology Department currently provides study modules in Animal Behavior, Biodiversity and Conservation, Biology, Ecosystem Health, Genetics, and Genetics with Biochemistry.
All Biology programs share twelve core learning objectives that students achieve before graduation. Beyond mastering biological concepts, the curriculum enhances written and verbal communication abilities while providing chances for self-directed research projects.
