The University of Winnipeg's Department of Kinesiology and Applied Health focuses on student success through intimate class sizes, hands-on labs, and approachable faculty. Our instructors specialize in diverse fields such as adaptive physical education, geriatric fitness, athletic nutrition, coaching methodologies, sports psychology, motor skill development, physiological conditioning, movement mechanics, and musculoskeletal injury management.
Our three-year undergraduate program caters particularly to aspiring educators. Candidates select coursework aligned with their preferred teaching specialization (elementary, middle, or high school levels). During their final academic year, students may apply to the Education faculty for a subsequent two-year professional degree, ultimately earning dual qualifications in Physical/Health Education and Education.
Many graduates leverage this three-year program as foundational preparation for advanced studies in fields like Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Medical School, or Physician Assistant programs. Note that while still valuable, three-year degrees generally provide less competitive standing than four-year programs, which have become the standard at most institutions.
You are a current high school student studying at a school in another Canadian province, and expect to graduate from grade 12 (or equivalent).
