The University of Winnipeg's Education program combines academic theory with hands-on classroom experience to equip future teachers for professional success. Education students explore diverse subjects including history, philosophy, biology, sociology, and psychology while also studying curriculum design and teaching methods. What makes this program distinctive is its dual emphasis: not only does it prepare candidates for provincial teaching certification, but it also specializes in urban inner-city education. This intensive two-year (60-credit) program requires applicants to possess an existing bachelor's degree with adequate coursework in two teachable subjects. Those lacking prerequisites may need supplementary courses before applying. After-Degree candidates must choose between two specialization tracks: Elementary (Kindergarten through Grade 8) or Senior Years (Grades 9-12), with no option to switch streams after application submission.
