The Sociology Department provides three-year BA, four-year BA, and Honours degree programs, along with a Minor and Research Methods Certificate. Students from other disciplines can take Sociology as an elective. Sociology courses enhance studies in fields like Political Science, History, Psychology, Education, Criminal Justice, Women's and Gender Studies, and Environmental Studies. Certain interdisciplinary programs also include Sociology courses in their requirements.
A Sociology undergraduate degree opens doors to diverse careers in social services, criminal justice, public administration, media, aging studies, urban development, and labor relations. Many provincial and federal government positions seek candidates with Sociology training. Graduate studies can lead to academic careers in teaching and research.
