The Global Rights Studies degree modules present students with distinctive, ethical, and contemporary methods for examining and advocating individual and collective rights worldwide. These courses acknowledge that while universal rights principles and legal frameworks aim to protect, they often inadvertently perpetuate exclusion. The curriculum challenges conventional, limited interpretations of rights, particularly the narrow "human rights" framework. Instead, students explore how marginalized individuals and communities navigate complex global challenges when asserting their rights to autonomy and self-determination. This academic program critically examines the universal battle for fundamental rights recognition.
