Sociology's wide-ranging focus makes it exceptional preparation for diverse professions and advanced social science studies (including social work, education, law, criminology, law enforcement, and international development). Sociology degree holders remain highly sought-after in both public and private sectors due to their comprehensive societal understanding and strong capabilities in social analysis, communication, and problem-solving - crucial assets in our rapidly evolving world. The Honors research course (Sociology/Anthropology 4900) serves as the program's research requirement, involving guided study on specialized topics. Students produce a significant Honors thesis or research paper evaluated by a three-faculty committee comprising their advisor, another department member, and an external faculty representative.
