Our Master of Science program is designed for students looking to advance their education in biological sciences beyond the undergraduate level. Over roughly two years, participants conduct research under faculty supervision, culminating in a thesis presentation and defense. The program includes enrollment in at least two graduate-level courses, teaching assistant responsibilities in undergraduate classes, and participation in seminar series. Exceptional MSc candidates may transition directly into our PhD program.
The Department of Integrative Biology boasts world-renowned faculty members who provide diverse research opportunities spanning all biological scales, from molecular to ecological levels. We offer both MSc and PhD degrees in Biological Sciences. Situated in Canada, our students frequently research regional species from the Great Lakes region, while also studying organisms in Arctic environments, coastal British Columbia, and eastern provinces. Some research extends to the United States and tropical locations like Costa Rica. Our alumni have excelled in academic, industrial, and government sectors, with many leveraging their degrees to enter professional fields such as medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, and physical therapy.
Applicants with an honours degree in Biological Sciences or a related field may be admitted to the Master's Candidacy (M2) program.
