The department offers robust programs in Applied Social Psychology and Clinical Psychology. These programs typically span six to seven years, with students expected to earn their MA degree within the initial two years. Failing to complete the MA within this timeframe could affect program standing. Our graduate programs exclusively admit students for Fall term enrollment (September start) and operate on a full-time basis with no part-time alternatives.
Qualified first-year students may receive financial assistance through entrance scholarships, provided they maintain an 80% academic average, along with Graduate Assistant positions. Additionally, prospective students can apply for Tri-Council Scholarships or Ontario Graduate Scholarships before beginning their studies. Faculty members may also offer support for research or applied projects.
A doctoral degree (PhD) serves as the minimum qualification for licensure as an independent clinical psychologist across most North American jurisdictions.
Ideal candidates for clinical programs demonstrate academic excellence, a keen interest in behavioral science, strong interpersonal abilities, and a commitment to enhancing lives through research and professional practice.
Upon admission, students dedicate 6-7 years to coursework, MA thesis and PhD dissertation research, supervised clinical practicums, and a full-year internship in an accredited clinical setting.
