The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures (Département de langues, littératures et cultures) provides a diverse French Studies curriculum featuring language instruction, linguistics, francophone literature and cultural studies, along with translation courses. Graduating with a French Studies degree creates numerous professional pathways, including opportunities in education, public service, journalism, media, and commerce. Fluency in a second language has grown increasingly vital—some might argue indispensable—for today's university graduates, particularly in Canada's job market as a prominent G8 country with official bilingual status.

Program options include a three-year General degree or four-year Honours degree, plus a concurrent BABEd program blending French Studies with Education, complete with teaching practicum.

The Combined Major in French Studies—a four-year dual-degree track—enables students to tailor their academic journey by pairing with another major discipline.
