Family structures are constantly evolving. Acquire both theoretical knowledge and hands-on understanding of the transformations impacting families and society's reactions to these shifts. This program delves into child development research, sexual health and relationships, family evolution through history, marital relationships, and gender-related topics. It integrates coursework from multiple fields such as sociology, psychology, social work, historical studies, and gender studies.
As Canada's only program of its kind, designed by internationally renowned scholars, it offers comprehensive perspectives on family transformations and societal adaptations. Students examine childhood development, sexual health (both locally and globally), family evolution through time, marital dynamics, women's concerns, evolving gender norms, and gerontology. The curriculum draws from diverse academic areas including sociology, psychological studies, social welfare, historical analysis, and feminist studies.
The Family and Social Relations program equips graduates for professional opportunities in youth services, counseling and rehabilitation, community support, case coordination, and numerous other related fields.

English Language Proficiency Requirement: Minimum score of 6.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS); Minimum score of 60 on the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE); minimum overall score of 176 on the Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or the Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE); minimum score of 85 on the English Proficiency Test administered by the English Language Institute of the University of Michigan (MELAB); minimum score of 220 with a T.W.E. 4.5 on the Computer-based Test, 83 with an essay score of 20 on the Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL); minimum score of 60 on the Carleton University’s Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL).
