Sociology investigates the dynamics of social and cultural aspects in human societies across time and geography. You'll analyze individual experiences within social groups and networks, examine connections between different societies, and delve into subjects like social disparities, gender and sexual identity, racial and ethnic relations, legal systems and crime, migration patterns, family structures, and beyond. Sociology focuses on understanding human behavior as it's influenced by societal forces and how it subsequently shapes our social environments. These environments range from intimate circles and family units to educational settings, workplaces, cultural systems, and broader societies. A key focus in sociology is how social classifications impact human actions. Researchers employ diverse methodologies such as historical studies, observational research, questionnaires, and controlled experiments. You can pursue a Major, Minor, or Honours program in Sociology.
