Sociology examines how individuals and groups interact through structured behaviors, investigating the relationship between personal lives and wider social contexts. The field covers various topics including family structures, educational institutions, healthcare systems, social stratification, migration trends, racial and ethnic interactions, as well as labor dynamics and political institutions.

The curriculum provides core training in sociological theories and research approaches, with introductory classes in year two and specialized quantitative methods coursework in year three. While lectures span all four years, upper-level students enjoy smaller seminar-style classes that blend instruction with discussion.

Students in sociology refine their analytical abilities, developing sought-after competencies in critical analysis and creative problem-solving that appeal to diverse employers. The program specifically fosters these capabilities, preparing graduates for roles requiring sophisticated analysis and strategic judgment. The Honors track further enhances communication proficiency and social consciousness, making sociology alumni particularly effective in public affairs and community development roles.
