The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program at Waterloo spans five terms, commencing each autumn. Our curriculum provides an intensive, well-rounded education that helps students explore the theoretical foundations of their artistic practice. This involves analyzing critical texts in graduate seminars, conducting research, developing writing skills, attending guest artist talks, and receiving studio critiques. Students can also apply for the Keith and Win Shantz Research Scholarship to pursue international study and build global professional connections. The program's teaching component prepares graduates for higher education roles through two teaching assistantships, pedagogy-focused graduate seminars, career development workshops, and the chance to instruct an entry-level studio course.
