The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program at Waterloo spans five terms, commencing each autumn. Our curriculum provides an intensive, well-rounded journey that helps students explore the conceptual foundations of their artistic practice. This is achieved by examining theoretical texts in graduate seminars, conducting research, engaging in writing projects, attending visiting artist talks, and participating in studio critiques. Students can also apply for the Keith and Win Shantz Research Scholarship to pursue international study opportunities and develop a global network of professional connections. The program's teaching component prepares students for post-secondary education through two teaching assistantships, a graduate seminar focused on art education pedagogy, professional development workshops, and the chance to instruct an introductory studio course.
