The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program at Waterloo spans five terms, commencing each autumn. Our curriculum provides an intensive, well-rounded education that helps students explore the theoretical foundations of their artistic practice. This is achieved through graduate seminars analyzing critical texts, research projects, written work, guest artist presentations, and individual studio critiques. Students may also apply for the Keith and Win Shantz Research Scholarship to pursue international study and develop global professional connections. The program's teaching component prepares graduates for academic careers through two teaching assistantships, pedagogy-focused graduate seminars, career development workshops, and the chance to instruct an introductory studio course.
