The Master of Architecture is a two-year graduate program designed for students coming from pre-professional architecture backgrounds, where they should have finished most courses needed for professional accreditation. Candidates with a Bachelor of Architectural Studies (BAS) from the University of Waterloo (or an equivalent degree from another institution) can fulfill the Master's requirements in as few as three terms or up to six terms. Other admitted students with pre-professional Architecture degrees must complete two transitional terms before their thesis year and typically finish within six academic terms. Graduate students can explore various opportunities such as co-op placements, international research travel, studying at the Rome studio, or participating in the University’s Water Program and Structures Certificate. Supported by our globally recognized faculty, staff, and peers, students can develop an architectural design and research thesis that addresses current challenges and shapes future practice.
