The Philosophy Department provides multiple undergraduate major and minor options, a one-year Master's program, and two doctoral tracks: a traditional PhD in Philosophy and an innovative PhD in Applied Philosophy. Our Applied Philosophy doctorate, a recent addition, emphasizes examining and addressing practical issues in real-world contexts. Additional details are available in our program brochure. Department faculty actively collaborate with experts across disciplines including sciences, history, mathematics, and engineering, believing these cross-disciplinary exchanges foster fresh philosophical insights and enhance scholarly discourse. Doctoral candidates complete coursework in their initial two years, specialize in two research domains, present and defend their dissertation proposal, before embarking on their final dissertation project.
