The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program, available as both full-time and part-time professional studies, equips students for principled, thoughtful, anti-oppressive, skilled, and responsible social work practice. Renison University College, situated on the University of Waterloo campus, delivers this program, with degrees conferred by the University of Waterloo. This BSW curriculum readies graduates for comprehensive social work practice across various settings including individuals, families, groups, and communities. The program features an accessible, inclusive curriculum within a supportive learning environment that nurtures compassionate and ethical practice in both local and global contexts. Students at Waterloo will explore diverse social work theories, methodologies, and competencies to deepen their awareness of social inequities and enhance their capacity to drive societal change. The School of Social Work acknowledges that students' dedication to social work often stems from personal encounters with systemic challenges like racism, anti-Black discrimination, xenophobia, colonial legacies, gender biases, LGBTQ+ discrimination, class disparities, and ableism. We strive to cultivate an educational environment that honors varied lived experiences, knowledge systems, and viewpoints.
