This program equips students with the skills needed for direct employment in various social service areas, while also laying the foundation for advanced studies in Social Work and related helping fields. Engaging in this program and working in social services demands both physical and emotional dedication. Students progress through the curriculum as a cohesive group. All essential Social Service Worker courses are delivered by dedicated program instructors, fostering a hands-on learning atmosphere and creating lasting professional connections that extend beyond graduation.
To earn the Diploma in Social Service Worker (Co-ordinated), students must first complete the Certificate in Social Service Worker, then achieve at least 30 credits. This includes a minimum of 24 credits from university-transferable courses in science, social science, or humanities disciplines, plus 6 credits from any course counting toward a Langara College qualification.
Students must have a BC Grade 12 Graduation (or equivalent).
Additional Requirements
A minimum 'C' grade in three credits of university-transferable courses.
