The Certificate in Indigenous Language Revitalization (CILR) equips students with essential knowledge and practical skills to support local language revival efforts. This program combines experiential learning with Indigenous wisdom, making it available to all learners.
Recognized for excellence, the accessible CILR program is delivered through a collaboration between UVic's Linguistics Department, Continuing Studies, and the En'owkin Centre.
This certificate explores the intricate processes of language decline, preservation, and renewal while offering actionable approaches for Indigenous communities to safeguard and revive endangered languages. The curriculum respects ancestral wisdom, addresses varied community circumstances, and prepares students for language revitalization work or advanced studies in linguistics, education, or cultural resource management.
