The field of Statistical Sciences examines random occurrences and spans diverse scientific, industrial, and social applications. With data now omnipresent and more accessible, especially in vast quantities, analytical models are growing progressively sophisticated. Recent decades have seen statistical techniques profoundly influence nearly every domain of research and empirical study. The department provides extensive computing resources and offers statistical consultation services to support university research initiatives. Academic programs may include collaborations with various departments including Astronomy & Astrophysics, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Information Science, Management, Mathematics, Philosophy, Psychology, Public Health, and Sociology. A vibrant seminar program is maintained, with active involvement from graduate students being highly encouraged.
This full-time program spans three academic terms (Fall/Winter/Summer). Most students fulfill all requirements within two terms (Fall and Winter), completing the program in eight months from September through April.
???An appropriate bachelor's degree from a recognized university in a related field such as statistics, actuarial science, mathematics, economics, engineering, or any discipline where there is a significant quantitative component. Studies must include significant exposure to statistics, computer science, and mathematics, including coursework in advanced calculus, computational methods, linear algebra, probability, and statistics.
English language requirements
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Required score: 7.0 (Academic) with at least 6.5 for each component.
Internet-Based Test (TOEFL iBT) Including Writing and Speaking Sections: Overall score: 93; Writing: 22; Speaking: 22
Academic English Level 60: Required score: B
Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Online: Required score: 70 minimum total with at least 60 in each part.
The Certificate of Proficiency in English (COPE): Required score: 76 minimum total with at least 22 in each component and 32 in writing
Cambridge Assessment English: Required score: minimum 185 overall with at least 176 in each component.
