The Master of Environmental Science is a one-year professional program primarily focused on coursework for the first two terms. During their final term, students complete either a professional internship or conduct environmental research under faculty supervision, with part-time enrollment options available. This degree attracts students with undergraduate backgrounds in environmental science or related fields like geology, biology, chemistry, or engineering. Graduates are prepared for careers influencing environmental policy and practice across government agencies, private sector companies, and NGOs. The program offers specializations in Conservation and Biodiversity, Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation, or a broader Terrestrial and Aquatic Systems track.
This 12-month, course-intensive Master of Environmental Science (MEnvSc) program prepares skilled environmental professionals to address the demands of industries, government bodies, and environmental policy/education organizations.
A science or engineering undergraduate degree including at least two half courses or one full course in each of chemistry, physics, calculus, and biology.
A minimum mid-B grade average in the last two years of the undergraduate program.
English language requirements
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Required score: 7.0 (Academic) with at least 6.5 for each component.
Internet-Based Test (TOEFL iBT) Including Writing and Speaking Sections: Overall score: 93; Writing: 22; Speaking: 22
Academic English Level 60: Required score: B
Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Online: Required score: 70 minimum total with at least 60 in each part.
The Certificate of Proficiency in English (COPE): Required score: 76 minimum total with at least 22 in each component and 32 in writing
Cambridge Assessment English: Required score: minimum 185 overall with at least 176 in each component.
