The Institute of Biomedical Engineering (BME) provides research facilities in biomedical engineering and three graduate degree programs: Master of Applied Science (MASc), Master of Engineering (MEng), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
Biomedical engineering combines engineering with biological and medical sciences. This interdisciplinary field applies engineering principles, physical sciences, and mathematics to address challenges in healthcare and life sciences. It focuses on analyzing biological systems, improving or replacing them, creating measurement tools for physiological data, developing medical materials and techniques, and designing artificial organs and medical devices. Most of the institute's research inherently spans multiple disciplines.
