The Curriculum & Pedagogy Program (C&P) serves as a platform for in-depth analysis of curriculum, broadly defined as learning experiences across both structured and unstructured environments. This involves critically assessing content (subjects, courses, degree programs), objectives, and teaching methodologies employed in educational contexts. MA candidates in the Curriculum & Pedagogy program must fulfill eight half-course credits plus a thesis. Depending on prior background and qualifications, additional coursework may be necessary. Full-time students must complete all degree requirements within three years, while part-time students have six years.
This research-intensive program explores how curriculum influences learning in diverse educational environments. It serves as excellent preparation for those considering doctoral studies. Seven specialized tracks are available: Critical Studies in Curriculum and Pedagogy, Arts in Education, Digital Technologies in Education, Indigenous Education and Decolonization, Qualitative Methodologies, Science, Math and Technology, and Well-being.
Human beings universally seek fulfillment, creative expression, community, and meaning in life. The Wellbeing track forms a foundational connection across all specializations, promoting a vision where individuals can realize their complete capabilities while fostering mutual care and environmental stewardship. While humans possess multifaceted ways of understanding and existing, most educational systems disproportionately emphasize cognitive development. This imbalance has created significant global challenges, yet abundant innovative solutions remain to be discovered and implemented. The Wellbeing track's core principle involves nurturing comprehensive intelligence - integrating mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions. The urgency for action is clear. Through collaborative efforts, we believe educators worldwide can uncover solutions to pressing issues by tapping into humanity's complete potential in pursuit of equity. Lasting progress requires engaging our full consciousness. This specialization, alongside the OISE community, aims to thoughtfully construct a more equitable and resilient future for coming generations.
