The Curriculum & Pedagogy Program (C&P) serves as a platform for in-depth analysis of curriculum, broadly defined as learning experiences across formal and informal educational environments. This involves critically assessing content (subjects, courses, degree programs), objectives, and instructional methods that facilitate learning. MA candidates in the Curriculum & Pedagogy program must finish eight half-courses plus a thesis. Depending on prior background and academic preparation, additional courses may be necessary. Full-time students have three years to complete degree requirements, while part-time students have six years.
This research-intensive program examines how curriculum influences learning in diverse educational contexts. It provides excellent preparation for those considering doctoral studies. Seven specialization areas are available: Critical Studies in Curriculum and Pedagogy, Arts Education, Digital Learning Technologies, Indigenous Education and Decolonization, Qualitative Research Methods, STEM Education, and Wellness in Learning.
The CSCP specialization fosters critical examination of educational systems both inside and outside traditional school settings. CSCP coursework addresses equity concerns in education, covering topics such as: ecological justice, global education, colonial legacies, racial equity, accessibility, gender studies, sexual identity, and cultural/linguistic diversity.
