The Master of Architecture (MArch) professional degree offers an intensive curriculum that equips graduates with expertise across all architectural disciplines. This program establishes a solid foundation in historical context, theoretical frameworks, technological applications, environmental studies, social considerations, and industry standards, while honing design abilities through an immersive studio course series. The Daniels Faculty additionally provides a Second-Year Advanced-Standing Option (2 years) for the Master of Architecture. This accelerated pathway is available to candidates who exhibit exceptional qualifications, assessed through academic records and portfolio evaluation. Advanced-standing participants enter the program at the second-year level, following the curriculum structure detailed below.
Throughout the three-year program, students acquire architectural knowledge through a structured progression of core courses covering design fundamentals, visual communication, theoretical concepts, historical perspectives, structural systems, technical applications, digital tools, urban planning, and professional standards. This central curriculum is enhanced by elective offerings that broaden architectural studies beyond conventional limits, framing architectural practice as a transformative cultural force addressing pressing global challenges such as environmental sustainability, social justice, and indigenous reconciliation.
