The Department of Geography, Geomatics and Environment provides both Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in Geography, along with a BSc in Geographical Information Systems (GIS), working closely with Environment-related programs. The curriculum follows a structured approach: introductory courses (first year), fundamental stream courses (second year), followed by specialized studies in later years. Early coursework blends aspects of human-social-cultural studies with biogeophysical approaches, incorporating environmental viewpoints and analytical techniques. Following the introductory phase, students must complete two courses from their chosen core stream and two from the remaining three streams before selecting a specialization.
Majors and specialists must fulfill a set number of field experience days during their studies. These can be earned through dedicated field courses or classes with field components as specified in course details.
The program emphasizes geography's interdisciplinary character while fostering expertise in geographic information analysis. Students gain advanced problem-solving abilities essential for thriving in today's rapidly evolving professional landscape. Fieldwork enhances classroom learning by supplying practical workshop materials, honing analytical capabilities, promoting investigative skills, and fostering collaborative learning.
