The Department of Geography, Geomatics and Environment provides Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in Geography, along with a BSc in Geographical Information Systems (GIS), working in tandem with various Environment programs. The curriculum begins with introductory courses in the first year, followed by core stream classes in the second year, leading to specialized studies in later years. Early coursework blends human-social-cultural and biogeophysical approaches with environmental viewpoints and analytical techniques. Following foundational studies, students must complete two courses from their chosen core stream and two from the remaining three streams before selecting a specialization. Major and specialist program participants must fulfill a set number of field days, achievable through dedicated field courses or classes with field components. The program emphasizes the interdisciplinary nature of geography while cultivating geographic information analysis skills. Our goal is to equip students with advanced problem-solving abilities for today's evolving job market. Fieldwork enhances classroom learning by offering practical workshop material, refining analytical techniques, fostering investigative skills, and promoting teamwork.
