The Visual Culture and Communication (VCC) program is an interdisciplinary undergraduate curriculum that equips students with expertise in both visual cultural studies and digital communication practices (with courses offered at Sheridan Institute). This Specialist Program combines theoretical analysis of visual culture with hands-on training in visual communication techniques. Participants also enroll in selected courses from the Communication, Culture, Information & Technology program. Graduates earn an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto alongside a Digital Communications Certificate from Sheridan College.
In today's world, visual communication dominates global cultures across various media - from artistic expressions to marketing campaigns, political messaging to photojournalism, and cinematic productions to digital platforms. Individuals of all ages now actively create and engage with visual content. As digital technologies evolve, proficiency in visual communication and design grows increasingly vital for navigating our interconnected world. The VCC program empowers students to critically influence modern visual culture by applying multidisciplinary historical and theoretical frameworks to current practices and discussions.
